Ash Wednesday is February 17

In light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, St. Thomas à Becket Parish has modified the usual Ash Wednesday schedule. In addition to a 9:00 a.m. Ash Wednesday Mass, we will have two “Word of God” services that day. These services, shorter than a regular Mass, will include a Bible reading, short homily, and distribution of ashes. There will be no Communion.  In another pandemic-related change, the priest will sprinkle ashes on the heads of worshipers instead of drawing the sign of the cross on their foreheads. Ashes will be distributed this way at all services.
Our Parish continues to observe Covid-19 safety protocols, including: limiting capacity via registration process, requiring social distancing, cleaning surfaces after every service, and requiring everyone to wear a mask while inside the building. Please do not come to church if you are ill or have been in close contact with anyone who has or may have been exposed to Covid-19. Bishop Burbidge continues to grant a dispensation from attending Mass on Sundays and other Holy Days of Obligation for those not able to attend because of health concerns.

Ash Wednesday:        9:00 a.m. Mass        12 Noon – Liturgy of the Word        4:00 p.m. – Liturgy of the Word
The Reservation system for the Ash Wednesday services will be available on Monday, February 8th.  Attendance at these services will be limited.
