Celebrating St. Thomas à Becket: 50 Years of Faith

Autumn 2020 marks the 50th anniversary of St. Thomas à Becket parish, a monumental
milestone and a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our past, and to look toward our future. As
the COVID-19 pandemic precludes us from gathering in large numbers, we are thinking outside
the box about how best to mark this anniversary and to celebrate everything that makes our
community of faith strong and vibrant.
While we will host Bishop Burbidge for a celebratory Mass, we are focused more broadly on
creating opportunities for parishioners to connect with each other and with the church over the
course of the next year. Our anniversary celebration will span a full year, our 50th year, and will
offer all parishioners new ways to explore the faith.
Examples of activities that may be offered under this celebratory umbrella include virtual
meetings of our active groups like the book discussion group, or Care for Our Common Home.
We may host online conversations on the history of our parish, or discussions of specific topics
pertinent to daily life as a Catholic. We may offer some adult catechesis conversations, or
opportunities for teens to gather in a safe, online space.
Above all, the focus of this coming year is to help you stay connected and find new ways to
engage with the parish, and with your Catholic faith. We hope you will take advantage of all
that St. Thomas à Becket has to offer in its 50th year!
